Sunday was a good day

When it comes to fishing, we've been doing a lot of outside the box thinking lately. For the most part, it hasn't been paying off, but then again, sometimes you gotta accept a slightly lower success rate when embodying the "go big or go home" mentality. Anyways, I'm pretty much done with throwing 7 inch streamers on shooting heads for trophy lake trout after many days produced just one brief, albeit memorable hookup.

Even though it's been slow, I've been driven to get out and get after it lately as I'm leaving the West and moving to Maine in just a few days. Needless to say, I was stoked for a plan to mountain bike 24 miles round trip with my float tube to a lake that may or may not have been frozen with fish that may or may not have been eating.

Turned out to be worth it. Our best estimate was around 40 cutthroat, all but a couple were 3 lbs. or better and at least 10 were 20-22" gorged footballs. It was one of those days.

Too cool! I'm glad that the trip wasn't a bust. Looks like an awesome place and those cutties couldn't get any better!

I think I recognize this place. Is it perhaps only accessible by off-road machine in the rain? Be there Thursday.
