Wik Versus The Giant

Patience is a virtue. On many previous outtings, Old Man Wilkie watched fellow anglers battle powerful bluefin off Chatham, as he calmly sipped his beer, content to work the gaff and support the landing. But behind the calm demeanor, a storm was brewing, a carnel desire to go head to head in stand-up combat with the largest tuna of the seas.

When the fish hit, Old Man Wilkie knew it was his turn. As 500 yards of line left the reel in under a minute, it became clear that this would be a battle of two worthy adversaries, a BFC legend from central Maine and a warm blooded tuna capable of 60 mile per hour runs and powerful surges.
Fueled by Budweiser and nicotine, the Old Man battled with grit and pure old man strength. His will for victory unwavered by the great fishes persistent runs. Finally, the fish sounded below the boat, it's last effort at freedom. With great resolve and persistance, Old Man Wilkie lifted him off the bottom and brought him to Nick's waiting gaff.

81 inches fork length. 310 pounds. Video to follow.

Poseidon had determined it was my time. Lane, put some labels on the bottom of your post so it doesn't get lost for future viewing. Still freakishly stoked about this fish!
