Hey everyone in the Boston area on April 10th,

We are really luck to have Paul Sagan speaking at a Bates Business Networking Event at the Westin Copley. Mr. Sagan is a Bates Parent and the CEO of Akamai Technologies, a very large and fast growing tech firm focused on internet content delivery and processing. This is a major speaker for us to have and we would like the attendance to be off the charts. If you can make it or know of anyone else that can make it, please pass the information along.

Skunk no more

Let's start by saying I just saw Jesse Lance Robbins' name printed under a fine piece in the new Drake magazine. We have ourselves another published author in the mix..... nice work son !

Up at 4:30am driving to southern Maine to pick up a new rod and reel, shopping by 8 back on the home water by noonish. The new 11'9" 4wt spey casts like a dream, I did not want to leave.

I have fished this spot 15 consecutive times without so much as a grab. Not that bad right, but think of 15 consecutive one hour long drives home ...... November came and went, December brought iced up guides and a broked rod.... Jan and Feb were touchless.... March... skunk no more. Not a huge fish but it took my clouser smelt, ugly enough as it could only be a Newburgh bait fish.

This is not a huge fish, but a hard won fish.

The skunk is off boys and it feels good.

Help Me. I've turned into a monster...

Number of tuna flies I tied over the last 2 weeks: Twenty-seven.

Number of times I've casted a fly at tuna in my life: zero.

HARDING - LANE

The Original Needlepoint Hat.

This is a company that was started by my longtime friend. They are a local company (MA) and have pretty cool green attitude and company bio.

Warming Up

Went over the pass to fish the South Fork in Idaho yesterday. Even though it didn't get as warm as predicted, there were a few fish looking up. They didn't seem to give two shits about the midge clouds everywhere so, naturally, I swung a big white articulated sex dungeon.

That trip needed koozies

That ice fishing trip needed some koozies! Anyone can place orders on the goods section! Get em while they're keeping your hands hot and your beer cold. Also bonus points for posting pics with the koozies in 'em.

She's a Jackman 10

Here is a taste of what Maine Master Guide Wilkie got us into up in Jackman.  Thanks for another epic weekend on the Ice.

On the Ice Again

Similar to Wilkie and the Breakfast Sandwich, comes the paradox of which came first: booze or ice fishing? All that is really known is that one could not survive with out the other, or at least neither could exist independently at the level the achieve when they are combined. I say this because our presence on the ice this paticular Saturday morning (25Feb2012) was met by 3 handles of Alan's Coffee Brandy, 1 handle of Crown Royal, 1 handle of Jim Bean, 1 handle of Hornitos, 1 handle of Dr. Mcgillicuddy's, and 1 handle of Old Gran Dad. That comes down to a handle a person (granted no all were full handles but you get the picture). Oh yeah, along with 2 full 30 racks and a loose 24 pack thanks to Jasper. It was going to be a good day.

Special thanks to the man in the green plaid jacket: Old Man Ice Water. We simply could not do it with out you.
