i hooked a beast the other night. it made my new reel do all sorts of absurd things, nearly ripped the rod from my hands and in one tremendous push straightened out my hook. then it was gone from my line, but not my memory. this is an antique jig i was given by a friend. apparently the things work.

I've read that book by Dave Ross. Talked to him over email a couple times.

dave ross is quite a character. he lives here in town and i have been fishing with him a few times. he actually fishes waquoit quite a bit.
this jig is from the 70's. apparently there is a whole book on how to fish them. i would recommend bouncing it along the bottom, right into that spot...
